Biography:

In 2000, Alona Chugaievska graduated from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Faculty of Law, obtaining a full higher education degree in "Jurisprudence". Since April 2001, she has been employed at Vadym Hetman Kyiv National University of Economics, initially as an assistant. From 2003 to 2016, she served as a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Constitutional and Administrative Law. Since 2016, she has held the position of Senior Lecturer at the Department of Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure. In 2020, she became a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Constitutional, Administrative, and Criminal Law, and in 2021, she was appointed as an Associate Professor at the Department of Constitutional and Criminal Law. Since 2022, she has served as an Associate Professor at the Department of Public and International Law. In 2006, she completed her postgraduate studies at Odesa Law Academy National University. She successfully defended her candidate's thesis in the speciality of criminal proсedure and criminology, forensic examination, and operative and investigative activity (12.00.09). The topic of her dissertation was "Procedural Order for Exemption from Serving a Sentence". 

Her research interests include issues related to exemption from punishment and serving a sentence (both legal and procedural aspects), probation, ensuring the right to defence in criminal proceedings, the rights of victims in criminal proceedings, and the observance of constitutional rights within the context of criminal proceedings
