In the Institute of Law, conditions have been created to ensure the proper level of work of professors and teachers of all departments and the high-quality training of highly qualified Bachelors and Masters in Laws.
More than 130 teachers, including 5 ScDs and Professors, more than 60 PhDs and Associate Professors, take part in the research and educational/methodological support to the educational process at six departments of the Faculty. The annual Teacher and Researcher of the Year contests have been initiated by the Academic Council of the Faculty together with the trade union bureau to provide non-pecuniary incentives in their work. The winners are awarded appropriate pecuniary and non-pecuniary prizes.
A specialised Academic Council for the defence of PhD in Law dissertations in three specialities has been operating at the Faculty since 2004 to ensure the qualification and scientific development of teachers: 12.00.02 – Constitutional Law; Municipal Law, 12.00.04 – Commercial Law; Commercial Procedural Law, 12.00.07 – Administrative Law and Process; Finance Law; Information Law. Teachers of the Faculty defend 4 to 6 dissertations per year.
The television studio of Institute of Law has been established and operating as a structural unit as an additional information and education resource for the continued innovative development of the Faculty.
The Institute has: a computer class with the Internet access, a courtroom, a specialised library with foreign literature and education consultancy clinic. Students of the Law Faculty present their abilities, implement their vision of the study process and other areas of life in practice via Pravoznavets newspaper of the Law Faculty. The best students publish their scientific papers together with teachers in the Legal Regulation of Economy bulletin, which is a specialist scientific publication in the field of law sciences. The Faculty has an operational system of the student self-government based upon the students' dean office, the Artistic Creativity Centre and the Interesting Meetings Club.
The "Social Justice" legal clinic has been established together with the editorial office of Holos Ukrayiny newspaper. Students provide the necessary legal aid to poor people under the guidance of their teachers.
A Code of Moral and Ethics of a Law Faculty Student, which supports the development of qualities of not only a specialist, but also a patriot of Ukraine, has been adopted with a joint resolution of the Academic Council of the Law Faculty, the Students' Dean Office and the Students' trade union bureau in order to join the team of students and teachers of the faculty around the human moral values, the ideas of statehood and professional lawyer values, as well as the best traditions of the university and the faculty. Tutors are assigned to all groups of all courses.
As regards the job placement in the future: graduates from the Jurisprudence speciality can work as lawyers of companies, state institutions and organisations, in the field of business and international trade activities, in law enforcement agencies, as tax or customs inspectors, as specialists of control and revision agencies, as specialists of social security agencies, as product quality inspectors, as teachers of law in education establishments, as researchers in scientific research organisations and institutions, as well as at other positions that require higher education in the field of law. In 2010, the job placement of graduates of the faculty was held in an organised manner for the first time. About 100 persons found their working place.
In 2006, the Institute of Law has successfully completed the implementation of the specially developed curriculum funded with an international TEMPUS/TACIS grant. A new Master degree programme in International Economic Law was opened as a result. Earlier, such a grant was obtained for the development and the implementation of the Master programme in Legal Regulation of Economy. These two grants exceeded USD 1,000,000. Law schools of universities of Marburg (Germany), Naples (Italy), Vienna (Austria) and Newcastle (UK) were involved into the programme implementation.
The international co-operation of the Institute is going on. For instance, a co-operation contract was signed in 2010 between our Faculty with the Law Institute of the Central University of Economics and Finance (Beijing). Our Faculty was admitted to the World Association of Jurists. Vadym Hetman Kyiv National Economics University together with its Law Faculty is a member of the European Public Law Organisation.
