The department researches into the following areas: "Protection of social and economic rights by the civil law under conditions of the development of the civil society". The object of research is as follows: legal relations in the field of the civil-law protection of social and economic rights in conditions of the development of the civil society and in the field of the exercise of personal non-property and property rights of individuals; the legislative assurance of the social protection of victims of the Chernobyl disaster. 

Teachers of the department developed course curricula based on the scientific research into problems associated with overcoming consequences of the Chernobyl disaster and the exercise of the personal non-property and property rights of individuals.

The results of the scientific research into the pressing issues are published by teachers of the department in well-known magazines, newspapers and electronic publications.
