THEORY AND PRACTICE OF TRANSLATION (COMPULSORY 8th TERM)The purpose of the discipline is to form basic translation competence in students; to master and master in practice the main types of translation transformations and principles of translation; to study the regularities of the translation process; to prepare students for oral sequential and written translation of legal and general information texts through appropriate training exercises. The objectives (learning objectives) of the academic discipline "Theory and Practice of Translation" are to familiarize students with the basic theoretical principles of oral and written translation: To form and consolidate in students stable practical skills of oral and written translation, to teach them the main types of lexical, stylistic and grammatical transformations in the translation process in order to achieve adequate translation quality; To form in students professional skills in working with texts of legal orientation written in English, and to teach them to use the acquired knowledge; To teach students various types of computer processing of texts written in English; To identify patterns in the application of lexical and grammatical transformations during professional translation of texts of various genres; To develop skills in the practical application of translation techniques in the conditions of oral consecutive and written translations from and into English; To teach students to use bilingual, explanatory, phraseological dictionaries and thesauri; To know and freely apply the main practical methods of translation. The subject of the discipline "Theory and Practice of Translation" is the general linguistic features of Ukrainian and English as a language pair that participate in the translation process, the method of implementing this process and the individual features of a specific act of translation. Studying the academic discipline "Theory and Practice of Translation" involves the formation and development of competencies and learning outcomes in applicants in accordance with the educational and professional program "International Law".
