ADVANCED STUDY OF THE MAIN FOREIGN LANGUAGE (COMPULSORY 3rd-7th TERMS)The discipline "In-depth study of a basic foreign language" is taught in the second, third and fourth years of the bachelor's degree in the specialty "International Law" of the Law Institute. The discipline consists of two main areas of study and is taught taking into account the levels of foreign language proficiency according to the CEFR scale: Legal English and General English, and is completed with an exam in the seventh semester. The curriculum for the discipline "In-depth study of a basic foreign language" (field of knowledge "International Relations" (29), specialty International Law (293)) is based on the Regulations "On the curriculum of the academic discipline" prepared in accordance with the Law of Ukraine "On Higher Education", the Law of Ukraine "On Education" and the Regulations "On the organization of the educational process" taking into account the conceptual provisions of the Common European Recommendations on Language Education and the English Language Program for Professional Communication. The curriculum is a regulatory document of the department and is based on a typical program of a foreign language for a professional orientation within the framework of the Sectoral Standard of Higher Education (GSVO) of Ukraine; educational and professional program (OPP) and the program “English for Specific Purposes (ESP) National Curriculum for Universities” (English for a professional orientation), the Pan-European recommendations on language education and in accordance with the requirements of the credit-modular system of organizing education. The process of European integration requires a high level of communicative competence as a mandatory component of higher education. At this stage of development of our society, the role of teaching a foreign language for a professional orientation as a means of communication has significantly increased, which, first of all, involves the formation of students' ability to communicate in a foreign language in specific professional, business, scientific areas and situations, taking into account the peculiarities of professional thinking. Professional communication in a foreign language helps a person to develop, to raise his general, intellectual and professional level. Interdisciplinary connections. The teaching of this discipline correlates with the content of professional disciplines, both general, professional and selective, namely: "History of International Law", "History of International Relations", "Foreign Language", "Law of International Treaties", "Theory and Practice of Translation", "Law of the European Union" and others. The purpose of the discipline. "In-depth study of the main foreign language" is to form a special intercultural communicative competence, which includes linguistic, social, cultural, professional and educational competence, which will allow combining special knowledge, skills and abilities for professional foreign language oral and written speech, increasing the effectiveness of intercultural communication in the professional sphere. The process of foreign language training of students is aimed at the formation of professional communicative competence, which is considered as a linguistic behavior that requires the acquisition of linguistic competence (speech and language skills) in combination with sociolinguistic and pragmatic competencies necessary for the performance of tasks related to study and work. The development of foreign language professional communicative competence occurs in accordance with the ability of students to learn, their subject knowledge and previous experience, and is carried out within the situational context related to study and specialization. The result of mastering the program in the discipline "In-depth study of the main foreign language" is the formation of linguistic competence, which consists of lexical, grammatical, semantic, phonological, orthographic and orthoepic competencies. Discipline objectives. Students' acquisition of reading skills with full understanding of the content; analysis of basic, socio-political, socio-economic and literary literature; mastery of oral monological and dialogical language within the framework of socio-political, general legal topics; summarizing and annotating special literature; drafting official letters and documents on legal issues in English. Subject of the discipline. The subject of the discipline is foreign discourse, necessary for the formation of professionally oriented communicative speech competence (linguistic, sociolinguistic and pragmatic) to ensure effective communication in a variety of modern legal problems. In accordance with international and domestic standards for studying a foreign language, there are certain volumes of special vocabulary, speech, speech, functional and grammatical structures of the English language, which makes it possible to carry out professional oral and written communication and obtain the necessary professional information in English from foreign sources. As a result of studying the academic discipline in accordance with the requirements of the educational and professional program, the student must: know: – linguistic and regional realities of the country whose language is being studied (professional terms and concepts); – stable word combinations that occur in texts; – the main meanings of some official words and their ambiguity; – the principles and doctrines of public international law, as well as the content of the main international legal institutions; - the foundations of European Union law; be able to: - communicate in a foreign language both orally and in writing, including in the professional sphere; – read and understand original texts in the specialty; – work with various types of dictionaries; – read about oneself in order to obtain basic information from new texts of special and general topics; – conduct discussions on topics provided for by the program; – correctly apply the vocabulary of topics in real situations, conduct conversations on professional topics; – analyze information from national and international sources, assess its reliability; – use modern information technologies and databases; – give clear, systematically developed descriptions of a wide range of subjects related to the circle of professional interests;
